What is StockEdge?

StockEdge is a stock market research and screening platform developed by Kredent Infoedge Pvt. Ltd., a Kolkata-based fintech company also known for the Elearnmarkets financial education platform. StockEdge was originally launched as a mobile app in 2016 and grew into one of the most widely-used research tools among Indian retail investors.

The platform's core proposition is combining three types of data that are normally accessed separately — fundamentals (financial statements, ratios, earnings, dividends, pledging data), technicals (price action, chart patterns, technical indicator scans), and derivatives data (futures OI, options OI, delivery percentage, FII/DII activity) — into a single interface accessible on a smartphone.

As of 2025, StockEdge covered the entire listed universe on NSE and BSE, with particular depth in the Nifty 500 and mid-cap/small-cap segments. The platform was available as a mobile app (Android and iOS) with a complementary web interface, and operated a freemium model.

Free vs Premium (Club) Features

StockEdge offered a free tier and a paid "Club" subscription:

  • Free tier: Access to a limited number of pre-built scans (typically the top handful across categories), basic stock profiles with key data points, limited technical charts, and a summary of daily market statistics. Sufficient for exploring the platform and running occasional screens.
  • Club subscription:Unlocked hundreds of pre-built scans across technical, fundamental, derivatives, and composite categories; full Edge Reports for individual stocks; complete 10-year financial history including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow data; detailed sector analysis; FII/DII activity data; and faster data updates. The Club subscription was available on monthly and annual billing; annual plans historically offered a significant discount. Current pricing should be verified on the StockEdge website.

Key Features

Pre-Built Scans

StockEdge's scan library was one of its most distinctive features. The Club subscription provided access to several hundred pre-built scans grouped into categories:

  • Technical scans: Breakouts, moving average crossovers, RSI levels, MACD crossovers, volume surges, 52-week highs and lows, candlestick patterns, Bollinger Band compressions, and dozens of other pattern-based filters.
  • Fundamental scans: High ROE stocks, low P/E with earnings growth, high-dividend-yield stocks, debt-free companies, consistent compounders, promoter shareholding changes, and other balance-sheet or ratio-based screens.
  • Derivatives scans:Long buildup, short buildup, long unwinding, short covering, high delivery percentage, OI concentration, and other F&O activity screens that combined price and open interest data.
  • Composite and multi-dimensional scans: Combining fundamental and technical criteria — for example, stocks with strong earnings growth that had also broken out on high volume.

Users could run any scan with a single tap and see the resulting list of stocks filtered by the scan criteria. From each stock in the scan result, the full stock profile was accessible.

Edge Reports

Edge Reports were StockEdge's proprietary single-page research summaries for individual stocks. Each Edge Report presented a structured view of a company's current status across fundamental, technical, and derivatives dimensions — in a concise format designed for quick review rather than deep research. The intent was to give investors a multi-angle snapshot of a stock without needing to toggle between separate data sources.

Edge Reports were available only on the Club subscription and were one of the features most frequently cited by users as a reason to upgrade from the free tier.

Watchlists and Portfolio Tracking

StockEdge allowed users to create multiple watchlists for tracking stocks of interest, with the ability to apply scans to a watchlist subset rather than the entire market. A basic portfolio tracker was available to log holdings and monitor aggregate performance, though the portfolio tracking functionality was less advanced than dedicated portfolio management apps.

Sector Analysis

The platform provided sector-level analytics covering all major Indian market sectors — identifying sector rotation, comparing sector performance over multiple timeframes, and screening for stocks within a sector that met specific criteria. Sector heatmaps and ranked sector performance views were available on the Club plan.

FII/DII Activity Data

StockEdge aggregated and displayed FII (Foreign Institutional Investor) and DII (Domestic Institutional Investor) daily net buying and selling data for equity, derivatives, and individual stock segments. This data, sourced from NSE/BSE exchange disclosures, provided context on institutional flow activity — commonly used by traders to understand broader market sentiment.

Fundamental Data Coverage

On the Club plan, StockEdge provided up to 10 years of historical financial data for most listed companies including:

  • Income statement (revenue, EBITDA, PAT, EPS on a quarterly and annual basis)
  • Balance sheet (total assets, debt, book value per share, debt-to-equity)
  • Cash flow statement (operating, investing, and financing flows)
  • Key ratios: P/E, P/B, ROE, ROCE, dividend yield, current ratio, interest coverage
  • Shareholding pattern history — promoter, FII, DII, public; with pledge percentage
  • Dividend history and corporate actions (splits, bonuses, rights)

Mobile-First Design

Unlike many financial platforms that designed for desktop first and adapted to mobile, StockEdge was built mobile-first from its earliest iterations. The Android and iOS apps were the primary interface, with the web version complementary. The app interface was optimised for quick scan browsing, stock lookups, and watchlist management on a phone screen.

The app was consistently well-rated on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with particular recognition for the breadth of data available in a compact, navigable layout. The scan execution speed on the app was generally fast, with results appearing within a few seconds.

Pros

  • Among the most comprehensive Indian-market research and screening platforms available — covering fundamentals, technicals, and derivatives in one place
  • Hundreds of pre-built scans save the time required to construct screening criteria from scratch
  • Mobile-first design makes research accessible on a smartphone — uncommon among data-heavy platforms
  • Edge Reports provide a quick multi-dimensional snapshot of any stock
  • Free tier is genuinely functional — useful for exploration before committing to a paid plan
  • 10-year historical financial data available on Club plan — sufficient for most fundamental analysis workflows
  • Derivatives scan data (long buildup, short covering, OI analysis) is rare in platforms accessible to retail users at this price point

Cons

  • Custom scan building (creating your own filters with specific numeric criteria) was more limited compared to Screener.in's flexible custom query language — pre-built scans cover most use cases but power users may want more flexibility
  • Full feature set requires the Club subscription — the free tier, while useful, is limited
  • Charting capabilities within the platform are functional but not as rich as dedicated charting tools like TradingView — StockEdge is better for scanning than for charting
  • No direct broker integration for order placement — users need to switch to their broker platform for execution
  • Real-time data is not the platform's primary strength — it is better suited to end-of-day research and scan workflows than for intraday monitoring

Who is StockEdge best suited for?

StockEdge is best suited for Indian retail investors who want a comprehensive research and screening tool for NSE/BSE listed equities that works well on a mobile device. It is particularly valuable for:

  • Fundamental investors who want to quickly screen for stocks meeting specific financial criteria and then drill into financial history
  • Technically-oriented investors who want a quick daily scan of breakouts, pattern formations, and technical triggers across the listed universe
  • Swing and positional traders who monitor derivatives activity (OI buildup, delivery data) alongside technical data
  • Investors who research on their phones and want a mobile-first experience rather than a desktop-oriented interface

StockEdge is less suited for pure options traders (Sensibull is more appropriate), intraday traders needing real-time streaming data, or investors who need to build highly customised screens with specific numeric operators (Screener.in may be more flexible).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is StockEdge and who makes it?

StockEdge is a stock research and screening platform for Indian markets, developed by Kredent Infoedge Pvt. Ltd., which is also the parent company of the financial education brand Elearnmarkets. The platform provided data and screening tools covering NSE and BSE listed equities, combining fundamental data (financial ratios, earnings, dividends), technical indicators, and derivatives data (F&O OI, delivery data) in one place.

Is StockEdge free to use?

StockEdge offered a free tier with access to a meaningful set of features including a limited number of pre-built scans, basic stock profiles, and some technical charts. The paid Club subscription unlocked a much wider range of scans (several hundred pre-built scans across multiple categories), full fundamental data, edge reports, and derivatives analytics. The app was mobile-first and available on Android and iOS.

What are 'Edge Reports' in StockEdge?

Edge Reports were StockEdge's proprietary summary reports for individual stocks that combined key fundamental metrics, technical status, and derivatives data into a single concise document. They were designed to give a quick multi-dimensional snapshot of a stock without requiring the user to individually review separate data sources.

How does StockEdge compare to Screener.in?

Screener.in is a popular free web-based tool focused primarily on fundamental financial data and custom screening by financial ratios. StockEdge was more comprehensive in also integrating technical scan data and derivatives analytics, and had a stronger mobile app. Screener.in was free with detailed 10-year financial data, while StockEdge's full feature set required a paid Club subscription. Many Indian investors used both tools complementarily.
